20/02/2009: Pulling tour 2009:
During the past week, part of Hue Pulling Team has made the
trip to meet with Dutch teams V12. It was as we had hoped
privileged times and intense exchanges.
After contact by email the previous months, we went out to
five teams and it was as we had hoped Times privileged and
intense exchanges.
We
left on Tuesday morning with the truck team in which we
sleep. We take a car inside for the movement within their
territory. We took the road of the Netherlands by a passage
in Belgium. The first evening, we met with the Green Spirit
team at work on their Pulling. Our team was able to
rediscover the wide workshop on Pulling. The explanations of
the team of "Peter" and "Ko" were instructive. During the
visit, the team worked on new settings which allowed to
observe the flow test and pressure of methanol.
Du ring
the second day, we went to Rotterdam to see "Gerard Jonkman",
we have known for many years now. We parked the truck near
its workshops which was appreciable. From this site, we
traveled throughout the country by car. We could do the
morning tour including a visit fun when after walking
aimlessly. We arrived in a street with mannequins in the
window. Oops, they were not dummies, they moved ... It has
flown away.
T he
trip led us to the "Backdraft" to "John de Graaf." This
meeting was an opportunity to exchange
with one of the rotating European teams with V12 engines
Rover. We were not disappointed. The preparation of the
engine is more impressive than the real images that we come
to know during Ahoy and on the web. A beautiful exchange.
But we must recognize that the language barrier is sometimes
difficult (thank you the rest of the school and "Matilda").
Then we
went
to see the team "The Judge", the opportunity to meet an old
knowledge Frans Kloosterziel. A "gentleman" and a name that
we knew from very young (the team with an average age of 28
years). At the time when our family (Lucifer, Obélix)
started on Pulling (1987) We start to exchange with him.
It's always a pleasure to speak French with him. A team has
received in his workshop and then around a meal at the
restaurant. Moments famous. After the meal, we returned to
Rotterdam, full of joy and new ideas.
O n
Saturday morning of this adventure, we find the team René de
Bruijn, "Gompie". As for "Backdraft", we are in a V12 Rover
team whose work is of great beauty and technique. Time spent
on the team to understand and learn. This makes the humble
work that remains to be done.
And then it’s already time back, we go back in the truck
with a lot of times in the head.
We see these meetings with the gaps
between our countries. The teams here work seriously and are
able to mount beautiful projects with time for reflection to
design their own monsters out of joint as Boost control of
the Judge, the preparation of the engines of "Backdraft" and
"Gompie". We should welcome this work. Our approach and our
work for 3 years towards this. We seek through our journey
and our work we also develop the value of perseverance to
find new ideas or solutions. And even if there are more
sponsors in France, there are movements away from a more
industrial system as small artisans working with small
mechanical works of art.
We have learned a
lot from these meetings. They will undoubtedly serve to
advance our own mechanics. The changes that we know will
undoubtedly related to those encountered during this week.
We will maintain trade with these teams that we welcomed as
friends. We meet again to "Ahoy". And perhaps they will also
visit us in the future. Thank you to all teams
John, Herman, Marcel, Peter Ko, Arend, Jan, Gerard, Jeffrey,
Frans, Theo, Jan Alexander, Helmer, Geert, Antonie and all
other people we could have forgotten the names.
02/02/2009: Start of working to season 2009 with a complete
rebuild engine, and modification on the frame and the others
engines.
